The Kia Borrego was rolled out into the automotive markets by Kia Motors in 2009. It is a midsize SUV produced in 2 trim levels; EX and LX. Both trim levels have choice of 2 engines -
• 4.6-liter V8 that can develop 323 lb-ft of torque and 337 hp, and
• 3.8-liter V6 that churns out 267 pound-feet of torque and 276 horsepower.
Transmissions depend on the choice of engine; the V6 version matched with a 5-speed automatic transmission, whereas
V8 versions are connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Both the top-lined EX trim and base LX trim are designed with an optional four-wheel drive pattern. If precisely equipped, the V8 engine has the towing capacity to tow up to 7,500 pounds.Coming to the exterior design of Kia Borrego, it is a straightforward no-nonsense and clean, with somewhat wide and low stance that extends the vehicle’s stability. Interior cladding is attractively embedded into the vehicle’s bodywork, eliminating a tacked-on look.
All trims of the Kia Borrego are featured with 3 rows of seating, giving seven-passenger carrying capacities. Under luxury package, leather upholstery is included, and all interior items have high quality and performance of all items is up to mark. Controlling these components is also very easy.
Moving on to cargo space, the latest generation Kia Borrego is included with detachable 50/50 3rd row seats; the space is expandable to a good extent. This space can be used for carrying luggage, family pets and even furniture items. If all the 50/50 seats are fixed at their place, the entire space will be reduced to 12.4 cubic feet. The Kia Borrego also has a power lift gate.
The Kia Borrego LX V6 has standard
• Roof rails,
• 17-inch wheels,
• Integrated tow hitch,
• Six-speaker audio system with CD/MP3 player,
• An auxiliary jack,
• USB port, and
• Back-up warning system.
The trim EX is also incorporated with dual-zone automatic climate control and power front seats. All Borrego V8 versions are marketed in the EX and LX trim levels. Both trims have similar offerings, but the optional package gives you the choice of getting an improved audio system, leather seating, a navigation system, and a rear-seat entertainment system.
Considering the Kia Borrego reviews, it has been observed that the V8 engine delivers frisky performance and acceleration. However, due to lack of a truck-like suspension damping and construction features, it is loosing its image in the automobile market.
From the scratch, the transmission and throttle have given average braking and sluggish performance.
The Kia Borrego has decent off-road performance, and there are no direct competitors in its division.
